W Home surpasses 1000 broadband Apartment subscribers
"Our primary aim is to increase our subscriber base to 10000 by the end of June 2005. We already have a significant base with over 1000 subscribers achieved, and this is highlighted by the fact that we rolled out our live buildings only in the first quarter of this year. I believe that the milestone of 5000 subscribers can be achieved", said Mr Jean Morel, General Manager Australia & New Zealand.
W Home provides wireless broadband internet and home automation services to people living in apartments. Unlike other wireless solutions, the W Home solution has been specifically designed for large apartment buildings. It has none of the signal strength and interference problems experienced by other providers in large reinforced concrete structures.
"As at end of June 2004, we had 16 buildings connected and now, just 60 days later we have a total of 31 buildings live covering a total about 5000 apartments, with 60 percent of these in Sydney and the balance in Melbourne. In addition, we have also more than doubled our sales and marketing staff in the last three months and opened a Queensland office."
"We now know our solution works for all apartment dwellers; most of whom have been unable to access broadband previously. We are connecting 12 new buildings per month, with the view to this increasing and we are confident to double our deployment capacity pending a major agreement with a third party" Mr Jean Morel, said today.
